Grief Work

After losing our sweet kitty Surely last week, our labors in the yard became a good form of grief work, helping to pass those initial days of missing her. Baird worked on putting in the fence posts for our new picket fence which will go around the south side garden that is abutted by sidewalk on 2 sides. I did various clean up projects and helped him with the fence posts a bit. On Friday I took the day off and tackled the picnic table, sanding it and re-staining it colony grey. We have a long way to go in the next 7 weeks for the Tour but, I think we've made a good start.

Exactly so, Carol. The garden is a good place to channel all kinds of emotions, especially grief. Maybe a special tree or shrub in memory of Surely? I have about five different trees to put in my garden in memory of friends loved and gone; our garden is full of plants in memory of beloved souls human or feline.

I need YOU to come visit me! I have projects that I cannot complete without help... as I have never run a power saw. hmmmm. :-)

Thinking of you, Carol. I agree with Jodi. My garden is filled with memories of those I love and, as the garden grows, will live forever.

Sorry to hear you've lost your beloved cat. And I think you're very wise to work hard in your garden at this time...

So sorry to hear about your kitty. I have had a recent loss and the garden has been a blessing. I have a few Hollyhocks to plant out...favorites of my Mother.
