Spring at Sweetside Garden 4/12/08

It's finally Spring here at Sweetside Garden in Amherst, Massachusetts. A good dose of warm weather, interspersed with some rain, has led to many buds popping and blooms opening. Here are a few scenes from around my garden this weekend. Red buds of the maple, as seen just outside my kitchen window. Magnolia bud popped (I love their fuzzy buds). The south facing garden bed, top dressed with MooDoo. And, Scilia in the front yard, under huge maple tree.

I just returned home to find all the snow melted in the yard and an assortment of perennials emerging from a long winter's rest. It's a muddy mess in most of the yard but I'm so happy that spring has arrived that I won't complain about the clean up chores clammering to be done.

There are many homes around here that have a blue front yard at this time of year. I just love when Scilla is grown that way.

Your blog is always so inspiring to me, and because of its content, slides right though the blocks on sites they have at work! I can't wait to see your garden when I come out to the Valley!
